The Kingdom would be shattered, and darkness would once again infect our reality.
Desolate: How God Is Rescuing A Broken World
Creation began in darkness, but it was never intended to remain that way. The first thing that God did was pierce that darkness with a holy light, chasing away shadows and unleashing His creative power upon a universe defined as “good”.
Unfortunately, the glory was short lived.
The rebellion of humanity, the God-ordained stewards of power, invited chaos back into an orderly creation and usurped the divine intent. A world that was once known only as “good” and “very good” now bore the reality of both good and evil, leaving the land cursed and broken, and those God-elected stewards as the recipients of a shattered existence marked by suffering and pain.
But God is not done yet.
This is the story in which we find ourselves – we, the descendents of those first stewards, the children of the rebels, and the rebels ourselves.
It is in the midst of this story that God has begun a powerful work, once again overcoming the darkness of creation with the Light of the World. It is a mission that began in Genesis and has woven itself throughout the pages of Scripture. It is a mission that found its climax with a crucified King, but continues its denouement with the bursting forth of a Kingdom that overturns chaos. It is the story of justice conquering evil, of mercy sating a rebellion, and of love that conquers all.
It is our story, and we all have a role to play.
